This 18-voice group, like its 16-voice counterpart Gold Company, performs in every style from vocal jazz and show tunes to the hits of today. The ensemble maintains an active performance schedule on and off WMU's campus. Auditions are open to all WMU students. Each singer must have the ability to "swing" and master the complex harmonies of vocal jazz arrangements. Choreography and specialty acts are a part of GCII's exciting and energetic presentation.
Appearances
In 1997, GC II was selected to appear at the International Association of Jazz Educators conference, and in 1998 GC II opened the inaugural Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Festival in Newport News, Virginia. Following this successful performance, the ensemble released its first CD entitled "Come On, Come Over" (SMR Records). Most recently, the group toured Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji in the summer of 1999.
