University Chorale
The University Chorale is devoted to excellent performance of choral
music. The ensemble is selected by audition from Western Michigan
University’s
enrollment of 26,000 students. Chorale’s annual performance itinerary
includes concerts and festivals on Western’s campus, appearances in
neighboring communities and churches, tours within the U.S., and an
international tour every third year –the most recent being a tour of Italy
and Bulgaria in 2005.

    

Performances & Competitions
In May 2002, Chorale competed in the 4th Robert Schumann International
Choir Competition in Zwickau,
Germany. They
won their division (A1: mixed choirs at the highest difficulty level), and
they competed against the best choirs from each division to claim the
competition's grand prize.

4th Robert Schumann International Choir Competition

Chorale performed the opening concert at Ann Arbor’s Midwestern Music
Conference in 2001. In November of the same year, Chorale joined with members
of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra to perform Handel's Dixit Dominus at the
opening concert of the first Michigan Festival of Sacred Music.
