Ensemble Audition Information Auditions for Fall 2007 are Aug. 31st through Sept. 4th.
Sign up in the All ensembles are open to the WMU student body. Enrollment in the Audition Requirements Prepared solo - Prepare one song (an accompanist will be provided, if needed). The song should be range-appropriate and demonstrate the overall quality of your singing. If you do not have access to sheet music, a folk song or patriotic song will be accepted. Sight-reading - You will be given short examples to read unaccompanied. A starting pitch will be given and you will have a short period to look over the example. Pitch memory - The accompanist will play a series of four to six pitches and ask you to repeat them on your own. Students interested in auditioning for The University Chorale will also be required to learn a short excerpt prior to callback auditions. Excerpt can be obtained from the Choral Studies bulletin board prior to auditions. Audition Availability Auditions for University Chorale, Gold Company, GCII, and Collegium Musicum are held once
per year, at the beginning of the fall semester. Auditions for Collegiate
Singers, Men's Ensemble, and Women's Chorus are held twice per year, at the
beginning of the fall and spring semesters. Sign up for an appointment on the
Choral or Jazz bulletin boards in the Grand Chorus Membership Membership in Grand Chorus is required for students who are enrolled in University Chorale, Collegiate Singers, Women's Chorus, and/or Concert Choir.
