Western Michigan University Faculty Receiving HIT training provided by a Federal Grant

Under our current planning, a new cross-discipline undergraduate major and minor, Health Informatics and Information Management (HiiM), will be available in Fall 2012. To ensure that we are ready to offer this new undergraduate program, CHITA has successfully landed a special (intensive) training course at Schneider Hall, located on the Western Michigan University Main Campus.

This training course was made possible by a Federal Grant received from Lansing Community College. The grant pays to expedite the HIT training for professionals in Health Care and Information Technology. This training is in progress and will end on May 4, 2012. Altogether there are 23 faculty members receiving this training. Among them, 18 participants are from Western Michigan University and 5 are from two regional community colleges, Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Lake Michigan College. All participants who finish and pass this course will receive a training certificate and will be provided with an opportunity to be certified by the HIT Pro Examination.
