Doug Dietzman - Executive Director, Michigan Health Connect
Douglas Dietzman is Executive Director for Michigan Health Connect (MHC), the state's largest, self-sustaining Health Information Organization (HIO) and is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. MHC was incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization in March 2010 after initially forming in early 2009 as an informal collaborative of competing health systems committed to working together to support community-wide clinical data exchange. MHC's current service area covers the lower peninsula of Michigan and as of August 2013 consists of 89 member organizations, including 71 unique hospital facilities. It has also connected with over 1,900 office locations representing over 10,000 individual community providers across the state who are using one or more MHC solutions.
His experience over the past 20+ years includes business and technology leadership in integrated delivery systems, health plans, physician offices, consulting and internet startup companies having worked for Andersen Consulting, Spectrum Health, First Consulting Group, iBelieve.com and Mercy Health Services. He was named a 2011 Thought Leader in Health Care by Business Review West Michigan, is a member of eHealth Initiative's Leadership Council, as well as a member of the National eHealth Collaborative's HIE Learning Network Leadership Council. He holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Business Management from Biola University.
