Presentation Title: HIE In the State of Michigan
Bio: As Chief Deputy Director for the MDCH, Nick oversees day-to-day operations of the department's Medical Services Administration, which manages the state's Medicaid program; the Public Health Administration, which manages the state's efforts to improve and protect the public health; and the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Administration, which manages the state's efforts to assist citizens that are mentally ill, along with MDCH's overall business and financial operations.
Nick previously served as Deputy Director of the Operations Administration from November, 2010 until his current appointment. In that capacity, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the $14 billion budget for all Medicaid, Mental Health, Public Health, and other DCH programs. He had previously served in this position from 2003 until his 2008 appointment to the Deputy Director of the Health Policy and Regulation Administration.
Prior to joining the Michigan Department of Community Health, Nick served as the Director of the Office of Budget Development and General Government within the State Budget Office and as the Finance Officer for the Department of Attorney General.
Nick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from Yale University in 1990.
