Haenicke Women's Collection
Established with the cooperation of the English Department and the University Libraries, this collection consists of around 6,500 volumes of first and early editions of poetry by American women poets. It is named after the wife of WMU President Emeritus, Diether Haenicke.
Works of notable interest within the collection is an 18th-Century edition of Phyllis Wheatley, the early printed editions of Emily Dickinson, Lydia Sigourney, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and a large collection of 19th-Century gift books. The collection is particularly strong in 20th-Century writers such as Maya Angelou, Rita Dove, Joy Harjo, Denise Levertov, and Diane Wakoski.
This collection also has a variety of small/fine press books, limited editions, and artist books by Janus Press, Julie Chen, Kat Ran Press, Scripps College Press, and others.
