Art Hop Kalamazoo
This spring's Specialized Reporting course will be part of the June 1 Art Hop in Kalamazoo. Students in Prof. Sue Ellen Christian's course will showcase their photojournalism in an exhibit entitled "Kalamazoo-Area Portraits: Thoughts on the Hoodie, Post-Trayvon." The exhibit is at the Barnabee Gallery in the Powell Library, 1000 W. Patterson (in the Douglass Community Association building). Dr Gershon
Dr. Richard Gershon from Western Michigan
University was
awarded the second annual “Katherine B. Snow Best Research Paper
Award” on
March 31
at the International Telecommunications Education and
Research
Association’s (ITERA) annual conference. The award was established
to honor Katherine B. Snow, beloved wife of former
ITERA President, Dr. Andy Snow.
The
winning paper was entitled "Digital Media Innovation and the
Apples iPad: Reinventing
the 21st Century Newspaper” and was presented at the
conference by
Gershon.
Kathy Propp
Dr. Kathleen Propp was selected to receive one of three College of Arts and Sciences awards for Faculty Achievement in Teaching. Dr. Propp was recognized for her contributions to outstanding teaching in the graduate and undergraduate classroom and for her curriculum innovations in online instruction and service learning. Dr. Propp and other CAS award recipients received their honors at a college-wide reception held on March 21.
Stacey Weiland
Dr. Stacey Wieland received the Article of the Year award from
Management Communication Quarterly
for her paper entitled“Ideal Selves as Resources for the Situated Practice of Identity.”
Each year Sage Publications, publishers of this respected journal, presents the Article of the Year Award to the most significant paper published in the preceding volume as assessed by the Award Committee. Selection
for this honor signifies the high level of esteem a scholar’s work holds among peers in the
