Performing Arts Administration MFA Program

WMU’s Master of Fine Arts in Performing Arts Administration is a collaborative program of Dance, Music, Theatre and Public Administration. The purpose of the program is to develop administrators who will be effective practitioners and visionary leaders. The program is highly responsive to the aesthetic and cultural interests of the student. The MFA program is a two to three year commitment and includes a balance of on campus academic and off campus practical experiences. Managerial competencies are achieved within a theoretical and practical architecture of leadership. A small cohort of five students is admitted yearly. The program schedule allows students to engage in full or part time work in the regional arts community.

In terms of enrollment, WMU ranks among America’s 50 largest institutions. The main WMU campus, home to approximately 27,000 students is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It encompasses nearly 900 acres and more than 125 buildings.
