The College of Fine Arts is adhering to a strategic map for the next five years. It is based on the best thinking
of the leadership team in consultation with a wide audience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, emeriti, donors,
advisors and community friends. The strategic map guides our decisions throughout the College, regarding enrollment management, student development, academic and artistic standards, facilities planning, human resource allocations, budgetary allocations, teaching and performance equipment (including technology), alumni relations and development activities. The map represents our plan that carefully integrates the College's values, priorities and aspirations. This plan is designed to serve every unit within the College of Fine Arts, but it also establishes a coherent direction for departments and schools so we function as an artistic community.
Seeking to raise the College’s distinctive quality, the College acknowledges its core mission of providing
first-rate education for all students. This includes producing works of visual and performing art as a creative force
with extensive programming for the community. In order to graduate students of distinction, the College offers
evolving degree programs, while functioning as an artistic community through more meaningful and cross-departmental
interaction. The College is focused on attracting and retaining a qualified faculty and staff. It plans to
maintain strategic community involvement and secure the required financial resources for curricular and artistic
advancement.
In the diagram below, specific actions emanate from the College’s priorities. Such actions characterize ways
in which it can accomplish the priorities. This map provides a useful illustration for engagement in the
College’s future. The map will guide direction over the next few years to keep the College centered on its
priorities as it moves strategically toward excellence.
