Students entering the College of Fine Arts have the highest academic profile in the university. That is to say that high school grade point averages and ACT scores are the highest among all freshmen.

The College of Fine Arts is a selective admission unit. This means, in addition to qualifying for admission to Western Michigan University, students who wish to major in the arts must satisfy departmental/school criteria, such as auditioning, portfolio review, interviews, and the like. CFA students are academically strong and artistically gifted.

Facilities for the learning and practice of the arts are the envy of the Mid-America region. Students perform in three theatres, a multi-media room, recital hall, and major auditorium, mounting over 400 performances annually. State-of-the-art exhibition facilities host weekly exhibition of student, faculty and visiting artist work.
