Welcome to the CELCIS web site. I am Laura Latulippe, Director of CELCIS. I
have been the Director of CELCIS since 1984, and before that, I was a CELCIS
teacher for eight years.
Before coming to CELCIS, I earned a masters degree in English and taught
English as a second language in and adult education program in Ohio. When I
first became director of CELCIS, I went through a year-long professional
development program sponsored by Western Michigan University. I am a member of
NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and I represent CELCIS at the
Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP), University and College
Intensive English Programs (UCIEP), and the Commission on English Language
Program Accreditation (CEA) Constituent Council.
I have been interested in getting to know international students since I was a
freshman in college. My many international friends during college expanded my
view of the world. As part of my job, I have been able to travel to Singapore,
Japan, Brazil, Chile, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Korea, Indonesia,
Thailand, and Argentina, where I met with students, parents and agents. I am
eager to learn as much about the cultures of our students as is possible.
I hope you will come to Kalamazoo to study English with us. If you have any
questions about our program please email me at:
