Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Career English Language Center for International Students(CELCIS) at Western Michigan University, you must complete the following requirements:

  1. A completed application form

  2. If you are transferring from another U.S. school to CELCIS, a completed Transfer-In Form

  6. An official bank statement from your financial sponsor showing proof that you will have $8,500 per semester (4 months) IN U.S. DOLLARS (Note: F-1 students enrolled in CELCIS are not eligible for financial aid)

  7. A non-refundable $100 application fee, plus a non-refundable $100 tuition deposit - a total of (U.S.) $200. If you will have a scholarship from an agency that has an office in the United States, you may send us an official letter from your sponsor that is valid for use at WMU, which states the beginning and ending dates of validity, instead of the $100 tuition deposit.

  8. A copy of your high school or college transcripts-IN ENGLISH

For your convenience, Western Michigan University accepts MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.

Admission to CELCIS does NOT mean a student is also admitted to Western Michigan University. All prospective students who wish to apply to WMU must do so through the Office of International Student and Scholar Services.

*A CELCIS I-20 does not guarantee you will be granted an F-1 visa. Officials at the American Consulate or Embassy in each country make the final decision about whether or not to grant a visa.
