Writing Placement

Your writing placement is based on a combination of ACT-Reading or SAT-Verbal scores and high school GPA.  Placement will be at one of the following levels:

• Required to take ENGL 1000 in the fall semester
• Placement at Proficiency 1, college-level writing.  Proficiency 1 classes include ENGL 1050, IME 1020, or BIS 1420, depending on your curriculum. Please do not select a writing class without consulting with your advisor first.

Follow the table below to determine your placement.  Intellectual skills courses are shaded.
