Math Placement Test

In order to correctly place new students in mathematics courses at WMU, all students will be placed according to their earned ACT or SAT math scores.

The grid below represents the placement scoring that academic advisors will use for student placement.

Both Math and Chemistry placements are dependent up math standardized test scores; one chemistry level also involves high school GPA.

		3.4+	3.39 and less

ACT 27+ or SAT 610+	MATH 1220 OR 2000, 1500, 1180, 1160, 1140, 1110, 1100, 1090, STAT 1600, 3660	CHEM 1100	CHEM 1100

ACT 24-26 or SAT 560-609	MATH 1180, OR 2000 OR 1500, 1160, 1140, 1110, 1100, 1090, STAT 1600, 3660	CHEM 1100	CHEM 1100 Spring (recommendation)

ACT 19-23 or SAT 460-559	MATH 1500, 1160, 1140 , 1110, 1100, 1090, STAT 1600, 3660	MATH 1110 before CHEM 1100

ACT 16-18 or SAT 380-459	MATH 1100, 1090	MATH 1100 before any CHEM

ACT 15 or SAT 379 or less	MATH 1090	MATH 1090 before any CHEM
