Associate Dean honored with service award

WMU College of Arts and Sciences Associate Dean Dr. Cathryn Bailey.

For more than 20 years the Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center (KGLRC), a non-profit, charitable organization, has sought to serve the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allied community (LGBT) of southwest Michigan.

This year, at its annual Winter Gala, KGLRC honored Western Michigan University College of Arts and Sciences Associate Dean Cathryn Bailey with The Terri Kuseske Education Award for her work in the LBGT community

Named in honor of educator and former Kalamazoo City Commissioner Terry Kuseske, who died in 2010, the award recognizes Bailey’s exceptional leadership and advocacy for LGBT people on campus and in the broader Kalamazoo community.

Bailey is professor of gender and women’s studies and moved to Kalamazoo in 2008 to serve as director of gender and women’s studies at WMU.
