INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS AND JOB SEEKERS

WMU Career and Student Employment Services welcomes you to participate in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fair 2018 

  • Science, Technology,  Engineering, and Mathematics Fair is on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in the WMU Bernhard Center- East Ballroom, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 pm.
  • Search for employers hiring from your area using Handshake. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fair brings organizations to campus that are recruiting candidates studying in programs including hard sciences, computer science, telecommunications and information management, business information systems, data science, supply chain management, and all engineering programs. 
  • If you are studying in programs including business, healthcare, aviation, education, liberal arts (non-hard sciences), and fine arts, view the organizations attending Career Fair on February 8.
  • The job fair is free and open to the public. All attendees must check in upon entering the event. WMU students swipe into the fair using their Bronco Card.
  • Job seekers should dress in business professional attire and bring a sufficient supply of resumes to distribute to employers.
  • Students should visit Career and Student Employment Services for assistance preparing for this event.  We help with:  employer research, resume critique, practice interview, 30-second commercial, how to dress, proper employer thank you and follow up, salary negotiation and more.

Volunteering opportunity - we need student hosts to make the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fair 2018 great!

  • Students have the opportunity to closely interact with recruiters by helping them to their booth and assisting with setup. 
  • Volunteering shows employers that you give your time to help others, which makes an excellent first impression with recruiters, and is a great opportunity to practice speaking with industry professionals about yourself in a job fair setting. 
  • We provide light refreshments, and you can receive service hours for another organization, a class, Lee Honors College, etc.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYERS

Western Michigan University's Career and Student Employment Services welcomes you to participate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fair, on Friday, February 7, 2018. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Bernhard Center on WMU’s west campus. This event serves WMU students studying in programs including hard sciences, computer science, telecommunications and information management, business information systems, data science, supply chain management, and all engineering programs. 

If you are recruiting for any positions outside of these fields, view our Career Fair on Thursday, February 8, 2018.

REGISTRATION PACKAGES

  • Early bird registration: Available through November 30, at 5 p.m.
  • One table package options: $550 (1 to 2 representatives)  |  $650 (3 to 4 representatives)
  • Two table package: $950 (8 representatives, upgraded location, logo in employer booklet)
  • After early bird deadline: Package price increases by $100  ($650 for 1 to 2 representatives, $750 for 3 to 4 representatives and $1,050 for the two table package)
  • Next day interviews: $100 (one table, 2 representatives - purchase as an "extra item" in your Science, Technology, and Engineering Fair registration)

Payment Process and DEADLINES

Payment process

1. Register for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fair 2018 - after you register, our team processes your request and sends you an invoice via email with payment instructions.

2. Pay via credit card at the TouchNet link provided on the invoice sent by our team via email.

3. Receive payment receipt and "registration secured" confirmation via email sent by our team after your payment is processed.

Note: Registration requests are insecure until payment is received and processed by Career and Student Employment Services.

Important deadlines:

  • All registrations not paid in full by November 30, 2017, at 5 p.m., will be charged the regular base package price.  
  • Registrations after January 1 must be paid the day of registration by credit card, or company checks need to be processed and sent via priority mail within two business days of registration date.
  • Cancellations: Employers needing to cancel their registration must notify Career and Student Employment Services in writing at career-fair@wmich.edu on or before Monday, January 8, at 5 p.m.  After this date, registrations are final and refunds are unavailable.

Career and Student Employment Services makes every effort to collect fair payment from employers.  If payment is not received after two invoice attempts (via phone and email), our career office sends notice to the employer that due to non payment the reservation is cancelled.   

NEXT DAY INTERVIEWING EVENT

Next Day Interviewing event ($100/table):

  • Optional on-campus interviews will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Bernhard Center.
  • Package includes: One 6' covered table, up to two (2) representatives, breakfast and lunch, parking, and a candidate greeter at check in.
  • Our staff provides a schedule to be completed by recruiters during Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fair on Wednesday.
  • Purchase Next Day Interviewing packages under the “Extra Items” section when registering for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fair 2018.

AGENDA AND PARKING INFORMATION

  • 8 to 10 a.m.: Shuttles from parking lot #10, employer registration open on the top floor of the Bernhard Center
  • 8 to 10 a.m.: Continental breakfast in the Faculty Lounge
  • 10 a.m.: Students begin circulating
  • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Hot buffet lunch served for employer representatives (fair continues)
  • 2:30 p.m.: Fair concludes 
  • 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.: Shuttles to parking lot #10

PACKAGE SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS

Employers are welcome to send packages containing job fair materials to WMU prior to the Science, Technology,  Engineering, and Mathematics Fair 2018. Materials must be sent via FedEx and UPS only, and employers are responsible for shipping costs. WMU Logistical Services will ensure that your materials are at the Bernhard Center when you arrive the morning of February 7.

  • Ship on time!  Contact your carrier and arrange for delivery to WMU based on your city/state to ensure packages arrive at WMU between January 29 and February 2.
  • FedEx and UPS are the ONLY vendors that can be used for shipping to WMU.
  • Record the tracking number for packages shipped to WMU and have it handy on the day of the fair. 
  • Return labels MUST BE PRINTED by the employer and attached to outgoing packages for shipment. Packages cannot be sent without the return label.
  • WMU Logistical Services will gather the return packages after Career Fair (no later than 3:45 p.m., Bernhard Center ballroom lobby), and packages will be sent out Friday, February 9

CANCELLATION AND TOBACCO POLICIES

Cancellation policy:  Employers needing to cancel their registration must notify Career and Student Employment Services in writing at career-fair@wmich.edu on or before Monday, January 8, at 5 p.m.  After this date, registrations are final and refunds are unavailable.

Tobacco policy: Effective September 1, 2014, the use of tobacco products is only permitted in enclosed personal vehicles. The use of tobacco products is not permitted indoors or outdoors on any University property.
