Information for students and job seekers

Career and Student Employment Services is hosting the annual Engineering Expo on Wednesday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the main lobby of Floyd Hall for the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (GPS address: 4601 Campus Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49068). See detailed directions and WMU map.

Western Michigan University's Career and Student Employment Services welcomes you to participate in Engineering Expo 2017, on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Floyd Hall, in the Business, Technology, and Research Park.

Overview

Engineering Expo will be held in Floyd Hall, which houses the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. It is located on WMU's Parkview Campus, housed within the Business, Technology, and Research Park. Employer registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Important deadlines 

Take advantage of our early bird price ($500) by registering by August 1, 2017, at 10 a.m. - after this time, the price will be $600
Inclusion in promotional materials guaranteed if registered by: August 18, 2017 at 5 p.m.
Last chance to register for Engineering Expo 2017: September 15, 2017, at 5 p.m. (unless the fair reaches capacity before this date)
To cancel registration and receive a full refund, notify Amanda Jeppesen by: September 1, 2017, at 5 p.m.

Registration request are not complete until payment is received by Career and Student Employment Services. We make every effort to collect registration payment from employers. If payment is not received after two invoice attempts (via phone and email), our office will send notice to the employer that, due to non-payment, their reservation has been canceled.

8 to 10 a.m.

-Employer sign-in
-Parking is available in the East (P3, in pink) and West (P4, in pink) parking decks, located behind Floyd Hall, as well as a side lot P2 (in yellow), located off of the East wing of Floyd Hall. 
-View the second page of this map entitled "Western Michigan  University Parkview Campus" to locate these lots. There will be electronic signs to guide you when you arrive to the Parkview campus.
-Assistance available to unload materials
-Continental breakfast in the DENSO Commons/Parkview Cafe
-Optional tour of Floyd Hall, 9 to 9:45 a.m. (please meet in the advising office, E-102)

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

-Students will arrive to meet and connect with employers

Noon to 1:30 p.m.

-Lunch in DENSO Commons/Parkview Cafe (fair continues)

Registration packages

Registration and payment process

1. After registration request is received for approval, one of our staff members will review it. 

2. An invoice will be sent with the total due and credit card payment instructions. Note: If you must pay by check, contact Amanda Jeppesen at career-fair@wmich.edu or (269) 387-2745. We must send you specific instructions to ensure your check is received. 

3. Payment is due within one business day. Your registration is insecure until we receive payment.

4. Once payment is received, a receipt and confirmation that your booth is secure will be sent to the registrant.  Booths that have not been secured may be assigned to another employer that has paid.

 

Registration packages

Registration (one table) $600 - early bird price of $500 available until August 1, 2017, at 10 a.m.

  • Two (2) recruiters - each additional recruiter $35. Maximum of four (4) recruiters allowed per table. 
  • One 6' covered table, continental breakfast and lunch, parking, assistance with loading/unloading materials, and inclusion in fair promotion materials.
  • Additional table available for $150.

 

WMU BTR Park Partners (one table) $300

  • This package is only for employers with an office located in the WMU Business Technology and Research Park.
  • Two (2) recruiters - each additional recruiter $35. Maximum of four (4) recruiters allowed per table. 
  • One 6' covered table, continental breakfast and lunch, parking, assistance with loading/unloading materials, and inclusion in fair promotion materials.
  • Additional table available for $150.

 

Western Michigan University Departments (one table) No cost

  • This package is only for WMU departments.
  • Two (2) recruiters.
  • One 6' covered table, continental breakfast and lunch, parking, assistance with loading/unloading materials, and inclusion in fair promotion materials.
  • Tables are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Next day interviewing event 

Next Day Interviewing event ($150/table):

  • Optional on-campus interviews will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Bernhard Center
  • Package includes: One 6' covered table, up to three (3) recruiters, breakfast and lunch, parking, and a candidate greeter at check in
  • Career and Student Employment Services will provide a schedule to be completed by recruiters during Engineering Expo on Wednesday
  • Purchase Next Day Interviewing packages under the “Extra Items” section when registering for Engineering Expo 2017

Cancellation and tobacco policies 

Cancellation policy: Employers needing to cancel their registration are asked to notify Amanda Jeppesen (career-fair@wmich.edu | (269) 387-2745) on or before Friday, September 1, 2017, for a full refund. 

Tobacco policy: Effective September 1, 2014, the use of tobacco products is only permitted in enclosed personal vehicles. The use of tobacco products is not permitted indoors or outdoors on any University property.

 

PACKAGE shipping instructions

Employers are welcome to send packages containing job fair materials to WMU prior to the Expo. Materials must be sent via FedEx and UPS only, and employers are responsible for shipping costs. WMU Logistical Services will ensure that your materials are at Floyd Hall when you arrive on the morning of September 20.

  • FedEx and UPS are the ONLY vendors that can be used for shipping to WMU.
  • Arrange delivery to WMU between September 11 and September 18 to ensure that packages are at Floyd Hall on the morning of the Expo. 
  • Record the tracking number for packages shipped to WMU and have it handy on the day of the Expo. 
  • Return labels MUST BE PRINTED by the employer and attached to outgoing packages for shipment. Packages cannot be sent without the return label.
  • WMU Logistical Services will gather the return packages after the Expo (no later than 3:45 p.m., Floyd Hall main lobby), and packages will be sent out Friday, September 23
