WMU students may enroll for a semester or academic year in Middle Eastern Studies or Arabic language instruction. Students may also enroll in AUC's six-week summer program. The American University in Cairo is located two blocks from the Nile River on a central square in Cairo. Founded in 1919, AUC offers high quality degree programs in English to Egyptian students. American students enroll in classes side-by-side with Egyptian students, resulting in a high degree of cultural immersion.
WMU credit will be awarded for courses successfully completed in this program with prior approval of the student's academic advisor, academic advisors in departments outside of the student's major department (if the student plans to take classes outside of his/her major), and the Haenicke Institute Study Abroad office. This approval is obtained by completing the Course Pre-approval Form available from the study abroad office. Students are urged to work closely with academic advisors and the study abroad staff to plan a course of study allowing for steady progress toward their degree.
