Building a Niche Business – WMU-Style

Joshua BreshgoldJoshua Breshgold, B.B.A.'09, has not wasted any time pursuing his dream since graduating. He combined his love for clothing with his degree in sales and business marketing and started his own menswear clothing company, Joshua Gold.

The company caters to busy professionals who are looking for high-quality menswear but do not have the time to spend shopping. With their standard of excellent customer service, Joshua Gold representatives visit clients at their home or office where they take measurements, and clients can hand-select everything about their garment from style to fabric to color. The finished product is a one-of-a-kind article of clothing tailored specifically for the client's needs. Breshgold attributes his professional success to his classes and professors at the Haworth College of Business, utilizing the professional training and networking opportunities he received here on a daily basis. He saw every semester while in school as a new and exciting challenge and took pride in conquering those challenges every time.

But to Breshgold, success isn't all about sales numbers and figures. When asked about his most significant professional achievement, he spoke about a time when he saw feedback from his clients, "Reading their personal stories about my business and how much it helped them was incredibly humbling and gratifying. It made everything I've worked so hard for feel completely worth it."

He also understands the importance of giving back to the community, where he takes part in multiple volunteer projects in Detroit -- everything from planting trees, to "suiting up" (literally) soon to be Detroit high school graduates.

Thinking back fondly on his experience at Western, Breshgold offers a piece of advice to students, "College was the most incredible journey of my life, and no one should take it for granted. Before you know it, you'll be walking across the stage shaking Dr. Dunn's hand, wondering how it all happened so fast. Enjoy every single day."
