Undergraduate advising

All majors should see the departmental advisor before registering for their first semester and must meet regularly with all advisors to ensure they have met all graduation requirements. The advisor will:

  • make sure that the students take their courses in the proper sequence so that they will be successful in their studies, and
  • recommend the electives most suited for the career that the student is pursuing. Courses taken without the approval of the advisor, especially at other colleges, may not be acceptable for credit towards a major or minor.

Students minoring in the biological sciences should see the advisor as soon as they decide to minor in the department.
