Every year Denver International Airport offers two students the opportunity to work in the Operations/ Security department at a category X airport. This is a great opportunity for students to network with people in the industry, learn the ins and outs of security at a large airport, and get work experience before graduating. Students will also have the opportunity to train with airside and terminal operations, B Tower (ramp control), and the communication center. This internship provides useful, practical, hands-on experience and applies aviation knowledge to an actual airport environment.

The internship is a full-time paid position for 6 months (July- December). Applicants must have completed at least two years of college and be currently enrolled in a program leading to a baccalaureate or master's degree in aviation management or a related program. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 semester or 90 quarter hours and must be a U.S. citizen.

The position is designed to provide the trainee with initial experience and on the job training in the functions performed by a pilot or missions specialists. The position includes assignments performing a variety of pre-professional aviation and clerical/analysis type tasks. As a trainee, the individual careers out selected assignments intended to develop an understanding of the functions and systems for which this organization is responsible. The type of tasks are as follows: review, update, and become familiar with Aircraft flight manuals, aircraft checklists, company operation and training manuals, flight inspection standard operating procedures, United States standard flight inspection manual, FAA orders, notices, OADS and directives.

You will also participate in daily operations and training to become familiar with the requirements for becoming a Flight Inspection Pilot or Mission Specialist. Requirements:

• GPA 3.0
• A basic knowledge of aviation
• Degree seeking student with at least half a course load and cannot graduate prior to completing the program
• Trainee must complete 640 hours of career related work before completion of the program. This has generally equated to approximately 5 to 6 months of worked hours at the FAA.
• Successfully complete an application and undergo a background check, prior to being issued an ID.
