Due to a new flight curriculum that has been approved by the FAA, the College of Aviation will be able to offer students a choice as to the training they receive in the flight science program. The following flight fees are associated with the new curriculum. This is not an increase to the hourly rate, but a different FAA Curriculum.
Single-Engine Commercial Rating with Multi-Engine Add-On
With this option, students obtain a single-engine commercial license first and acquire a multi-engine commercial license as an add-on, which includes approximately 10-15 hours of multi-engine time.

WMU Cost of Attendance
The cost of attendance is calculated using an estimated cost of tuition, fees, room, dining, books, supplies, personal, travel, and loan fees. It is based on your:
- Residency status for tuition purposes (in-state or out-of-state)
- Class level (undergraduate or graduate)
- Housing preference (on-campus or off-campus)
- Enrollment status (terms/sessions and full time, 3/4 time, 1/2 time or less than 1/2 time)
Cost of attendance is best calculated by the Office of Student Financial Aid at Western Michigan University.
Keep in mind that flight fees are in addition to flat-rate tuition, housing, and other University-related costs.
