The Academic Resource Center coordinates a free campus-wide tutoring service that has been developed to guide the work of students as they make their way through certain courses of study that have been identified as having particularly challenging coursework. All sessions are free and do not require advance registration.

What can I expect at the Content Tutoring sessions?

These small-group sessions are conducted by tutors who are prepared to answer your questions about course material. They will discuss and clarify assignments, lectures, textbook readings, quizzes, exams, and any other study-related questions you may have. They can help you decide what information is most important to learn and strategies to help you remember this material. The tutors will also share course-specific study tips and test-taking strategies for you to try.

Why do students attend Content Tutoring?

Most people use Content Tutoring to stay ahead in their classes. Students have used the tutoring services in a variety of ways:

  • To clarify problems - Our tutors can help you with specific questions or general knowledge on a topic. This is a great alternative for you if you do not feel comfortable talking with your professor or if you cannot make it to your professor's office hours.
  • To do homework - Many students find that the tutoring sessions provide a great atmosphere for doing homework. If they get stuck on a problem or if questions arise there is easy access to somebody who can help.
  • To meet with study groups - Our tutors can help guide your study group meetings to help you get the most out of your time.

Why should I consider coming to Content Tutoring?

Students who regularly attend the free Content Tutoring sessions obtain a better understanding of course material. A better understanding leads to better grades! Tutoring is not just for students falling behind in coursework!
