Nichole Maury is an Assistant Professor of Art, Coordinator of the Printmaking Area, and Curator of the University Print Collection. Having received her M.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Iowa in 2004, her current work explores the now fine line between printmaking and drawing. A reliance on a repetitive, almost ritualistic process results in images where each mark is an artifact of that process, an individual component of a larger structure, which references issues of identity and dislocation. Her classroom curriculum emphasizes experimentation, collaboration and non-traditional print practices as a means of building on a solid foundation of traditional printmaking materials and techniques. Nichole has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally including The International Print Center New York, The Scuola di Grafica, Venice, Italy, The Chicago Cultural Center and The Urban Institute of Art, Grand Rapids, MI as well as several other international venues such as India, Argentina, and Ireland. Her work can be found in the collections of The New Orleans Museum of Art, Rutgers Center for Innovative Print and Paper, Iowa City Public Library, Bradley University, Minot State University in addition to many private collections.
