Master of Fine Arts in Art program is in a period of re-evaluation permitting the Frostic School of Art to review the state of the program and assess new opportunities as the faculty, staff, and students move into 40,000 sq. ft. of new space in the Richmond Center for Visual Arts and 88,000 sq. ft. of freshly renovated studios in Kohrman Hall. General consensus is that the review period will allow for 1) the transition into new facilities, 2) resource generation, and 3) reallocation of faculty time to fully support a distinctive M.F.A. in Art. The school is charged with re-designing the program and creating an invigorated curriculum with strong student appeal; developing a staffing plan for graduate courses, graduate committees, and program coordination among extant faculty; and identifying a studio solution for students and an external funding source for assistantships.
