Step 2: Application instructions

Please take a few minutes to read all of the following information before applying online. If you have any questions at any time during the process, contact our office at (269) 387-2000 or e-mail admissions-info@wmich.edu.

Payment of your application fee

The nonrefundable $40 application fee must be paid online via credit card or by electronic check. Payments are processed by a secure server.

Transcript requirements

An official transcript from all post-secondary institutions attended, except WMU, must be sent directly to Western Michigan University, Office of Admissions, 1903 W Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo MI 49008-5211. Only official transcripts (issued within 30 days of the date received and sent directly to the Office of Admissions) are ac­cepted. Hand carried or student copies are not accepted. Failure to report all educational institutions attended will invalidate your application and may result in dismissal if admitted.

Admission decision process

Your University application will be considered complete after all official transcripts and required test scores are received in the Office of Admissions. Your online application is sent immediately to the academic department and they will notify you separately about any additionally required departmental application materials. Once the department makes an admission decision, they will notify you and the Admissions Office. The length of the admission process varies by department.

Note: All documents submitted become the property of Western Michigan University and cannot be returned to the applicant or released to other institutions.

2. Review any departmental requirements and filing dates.
   
3. Check your entries as you work; you cannot return to change entries on the form after you submit the application. If you find an error after you’ve submitted the application, e-mail admissions-info@wmich.edu or call (269) 387-2000 to request Admissions to make the correction. Do not submit a second application.
   
4. Be prepared to pay the $40 application fee online by credit card or electronic check. You will not be able to submit the form without paying online.
5. Request that an official transcript from every post secondary institution attended (except WMU) be sent to:
