Research interests: Historical Archaeology of the New World, culture contact, colonialism, nautical archaeology, and material culture: power, trade, and identity

Regional focus: Midwest and Pacific Northwest

A closer look: Andrew Robinson is an archaeologist currently working on Fort St. Joseph in Niles, Michigan, a 17th-18th century French mission, garrison, and trading post. His current research focus is on the changing functions and symbolic meanings of stone tobacco pipes, and their spatial and temporal distribution in the western Great Lakes Region.
