A closer look: Derek Jackson is a biological/medical anthropologist whose research focuses on quality of life issues of the elderly. His interests are centered around the unique specifics of the human lifespan and the evolution of human development and decline. His previous fieldwork included a prehistoric Native American burial mound site in the Mississippi Delta. In addition, he has worked in Mississippi and Louisiana using geophysical equipment on historic sites.
