Graduate Degree Requirements
Students may elect to take a "Thesis Track" or "Internship Track."
MA in Anthropology: Thesis Track
Requirements for the MA in Anthropology with Thesis include:
- 36 credit hours : (10 class + 6 hours thesis credit)
- 4 Seminars (Anth 6010,
6020, 6030, 6040)
- One course in Research Methods (Anth 5300 or 5400)
- 6 hours of thesis credit (7000)
- MA thesis
- Oral presentation of thesis results to department
MA in Anthropology: Internship Track
Requirements for the MA in Anthropology without Thesis include:
- 36 credit hours
(10 classes + 6 hours Internship)
- 4 Seminars (Anth 6010, 6020, 6030, 6040)
- 6 hours of Internship or Practicum
(Anth 6990)
- Paper based on Internship or Practicum
- Oral presentation of practicum results

Applying to Our Program
Deadline: February 1
Graduate Advisor:
In addition to the materials sent to the Graduate College the
following should be sent directly to the Department of
Anthropology:
- Statement of Purpose (Outlining your reasons for graduate study,
issues you would like to pursue, faculty you would like to work
with, etc.)
- Three Letters of Recommendation
The Department of Anthropology does not require the GRE or any
other test, but you may send scores if you feel it will strengthen
your application.
