Aid
- Graduate College Fellowships of $7,940 are available for two semesters to outstanding students entering MA programs. For non-residents of Michigan, the fellowship will pay the out-of-state portion of tuition. Application deadline is Feb 15.
- Service Assistantships of up to $7,940 for two semesters of full-time appointment are available in many administrative units of the University. Interested graduate students should contact the Office of Student Employment.
- Thurgood Marshall Assistantship of $12,864 is available to beginning master’s students who are U. S. citizens from historically underrepresented groups with regular admission to a degree program.
- Graduate Student Research and Travel Fund
- Teaching Assistantships ranging between $12,500 and $18,000 per year are available on a competitive basis to graduate students in Anthropology. We currently support 13 graduate students as teaching assistants, typically for a period of two years. All entering students are automatically considered for teaching assistantships as part of the admissions process, with the stipulation that completed graduate applications must be received in the Department by Feb 1. Returning students must submit a letter of application and a CV in order to be considered for a TA: all graduate assistantships require graduate status in good standing, with less than 2 years in our Masters Program. Selections and assignments will be made by a vote of departmental faculty based on academic excellence and, where applicable, strong previous performance as a teaching assistant.
