WMU Approves Low Tuition Plan
"Our focus is on making sure our students are successful and keeping the quality education we offer affordable," said WMU President, John Dunn, when referring to the low increase in student tuition for the 2007-08 school year. On July 24, the WMU Board of Trustees adopted a tuition plan that will raise in-state tuition for the fall by just 6.4 percent and keep fees at their current rates. More

MI Elected Officials Still Contemplating Funding Change for Universities
As previously reported in this publication, Michigan's decision makers are considering a proposal that would create a separate funding pool for U of M, MSU and Wayne State. As they continue to work on state's budget for the next fiscal year, the possibility remains that this proposal could be adopted. Increasing the number of college graduates in Michigan is a key to the state's economic recovery and to do that the quality of all 15 of its universities must be maintained and protected. WMU alumni living in Michigan are encouraged to personally contact their local legislators and voice their opposition to two-tiered funding. More
