

The WMU Alumni Association established the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1963 to recognize alumni who have achieved a high level of success in their chosen fields, thus bringing distinction to themselves and their alma mater. Nominations are accepted year round. The deadline for the 2008 awards is March 7, 2008. Nominations received after the deadline will be held and considered the following award year.
Nominations must include a nomination form and a current resume. Nominations may also include additional information that documents the nominee’s career and accomplishments. The nomination form is available online and may be submitted electronically. The nominee’s resume and any other material may also be submitted electronically and sent to alumni@wmich.edu or mailed to WMU Alumni Association, Western Michigan University, 1903 W. Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49008-5404.

The Legacy Scholarship was established by the Alumni Association in 1990. Scholarship recipients receive $1000 for the first year, with the potential of an additional $1000 per year for a maximum of three subsequent years. Applications will be accepted between September 1, 2007 and no later than February 25, 2008. Recipients are notified in June.
The Alumni Teaching Excellence Award was established in 1966 to recognize WMU faculty members for superior teaching skills and professional expertise. This award has been suspended and we are currently not accepting applications.
