Congratulations on your admission to Western Michigan University! Here is a list of steps to prepare for your enrollment at WMU.

Admitted Student Checklist

  1. Learn More About WMU

  2. Review Admissions package

    • Review your credit evaluation. This important document is the essential first step before you meet with an academic advisor. The credit evaluation will show how your courses transfer for WMU credit.
    • Read “Transfer Notes” to learn important next steps for enrollment and contact information for university resources.
    • Access your student account and webmail. Look for your BroncoNet ID and password enclosed within your acceptance letter and visit GoWMU to log in and change your password.
  3. Confirm Admission

    • Send $100 Admission Confirmation Deposit (preferably before May 1). This fee confirms your enrollment and is applied to your fall semester tuition. It can be paid through GoWMU on the Student Home tab, click on Payment and Account Information, then select eDeposits.
  4. Register for Classes

    • Make an advising appointment. An academic advisor in your major area of study will help you make sure everything is on track for your degree completion and assist you selecting classes. Visit our directory of advising contacts to find your academic advisor.
    • Register for classes. This can be done in in the student tab on GoWMU. Simply click “Register for Classes” and follow the onscreen prompts. An advisor can show you how to navigate this process during your advising appointment.
  5. Pay for College

  6. Register for Housing

  7. Sign up for Orientation

    • Transfer Transition Program registration begins in April for students entering fall semester and November for student entering spring semester. Although optional, this transfer student orientation is a great way to ensure a smooth transition to WMU.
  8. Send Final Transcripts

    • Request a final transcript to be sent from your college to the WMU Admissions Office upon completion of your course work. This will affect your ability to register for future terms and may also affect your financial aid.
  9. Parking pass and Student ID

    • Visit Parking Services office to obtain a WMU parking pass.
    • Once registered for classes you can visit the WMU Card Center in the Bernhard Center to get your picture taken and receive your student ID.
