Early Planning

It’s never too early to start preparing for college. Learn basic information about WMU and get a head start on your college planning. We are here to guide you along the way to becoming a Bronco.

Why WMU

There are many reasons why students choose WMU. From the quality of the education students receive at a research-based university to the endless opportunities to get involved on campus, students find WMU to be the perfect fit.

Early Credit

WMU offers many opportunities to earn college credits before enrolling. Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and dual enrollment are great ways to complete required coursework in advance and get an early lead on your college education.

Admission Criteria

WMU reviews several key factors to determine admission for each individual student. A solid core of college preparatory work is recommended for high school students planning to enroll at the University.

Visit Campus

Campus tours for prospective students and families are offered Monday through Saturday. Tours include an admissions presentation and walking tour of WMU’s main campus.

WMU Visiting You

High school visits and college fairs take place throughout the year at locations in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Attend our presentation at your high school or visit the WMU table at a college fair. We look forward to meeting you!

Summer Camps

During the summer, Western Michigan University offers a wide variety of camps geared toward students of all ages. Our camps range from academic to athletic, with a little bit of everything in between. Camps vary in cost and some offer scholarships to assist with the expenses.
