How much does the average student spend on textbooks each year?

The estimated cost for required textbooks in the first years is approximately $850. Costs may vary by major. For example, engineering, media and performing-arts students may have slightly higher expenses related to special materials needed for courses in addition to required textbooks.

Each semester, the on-campus WMU Bookstore offers to package textbooks according to class schedules as a free service to students. Wherever possible, good quality used books are substituted for new books as a way to help students save money. Textbooks may be returned to the bookstore at the end of the semester for buy-back (payments depend on the condition of the textbooks).

The WMU Bookstore is centrally located in the Bernhard Center on the first floor. The phone number is (269) 387-3929.
