
New, first-time undergraduate students applying to Western are required to provide academic transcripts of all work attempted and the test results of either the ACT or SAT. Essays are not required as part of the application process but written statements are acceptable if students want to explain unusual circumstances that may have impacted their academic performance.
To compete academically with peers, we strongly recommend you have taken a college preparatory curriculum in high school that includes: four years of English, three years of math, three years of science, three years of a social science and two years of the same foreign language.
At WMU we have found that students who are involved in extra-curricular activities are typically more successful both academically and socially. So we look at the complete student profile when making admission decisions.
