How does WMU help students plan their careers and find jobs?

One of Western Michigan University's top priorities is providing career- and employment-related resources for students. WMU not only assists with planning and preparing for a career, but also with finding a job during and after college.

The best place for students to visit is the Career Network web site. The Career Network is a collection of services, programs and people dedicated to facilitating the career development and employment of students.

Career Network staff work together to ensure that students have ample opportunities to learn about different careers and obtain work experience. Network advisors and counselors are available to regularly meet with students, especially freshmen and sophomores, to help them explore the world of work and encourage them to begin investigating how the individual majors they're interested in align with specific occupations. They also help students perfect their resume-writing and interviewing skills.

In addition, WMU annually sponsors general as well as field-specific employment fairs to assist students seeking on- and off-campus jobs, or internships that may later lead to employment. Throughout the year, and more heavily each spring semester, locally, regionally and nationally known companies post positions on WMU's Bronco Jobs web site and send representatives to campus to conduct individual interviews with graduating seniors seeking employment.
