How is grade point average (GPA) calculated at WMU?

A student's academic average is computed by dividing the total number of honors points* by total number of credit hours of work attempted.  For example, a student with a total of 32 honors points who enrolled in 16 credits  has a cumulative grade point average of 2.0.

*Honors points are determined by multiplying the credit value (1, 2, 3, or 4) of the course times the grade value (i.e., A=4, B=3, C=2, etc.).  For example, a three-credit course with a grade of B (3) earns 9 honors points.  Credit/no credit courses, while counting toward a degree, are not used to calculate the overall GPA.
