
The goal of student financial assistance at WMU is to provide the financial assistance necessary to make it possible for every student who enrolls to complete degree requirements and graduate.Need-based aid is awarded in the form of a combination of both gift aid and self-help.Last year more than 70 percent to fall undergraduate students received one or more forms of financial assistance totaling more than $160 million.
Most of the awards based on academic achievement are renewable for all four years of study if students maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average.

Approximately, 67 percent of all undergraduate students receive some type of financial aid.
For undergraduate students who apply for financial aid (file a FAFSA), 35 percent receive some amount of need-based grants and 73 percent receive some amount of need-based self-help aid.
Approximately, 30 percent of all undergraduate students receive some type of merit-based financial aid.
Approximately, 50 percent of all undergraduate have their need fully met.
For undergraduate students who apply for financial aid (file a FAFSA), the average financial aid package is approximately $11,300. For those eligible for need-based grants, the average need-based grant is $3,400.
