What traditions does WMU have?
Western Michigan University founded in 1903, is home to the Broncos. Our school colors are Brown and Gold and Buster Bronco is our official mascot.
Fall Welcome, which includes a convocation for new students and faculty, is a week-long event for new students prior to the beginning of fall classes. Immediately following Fall Welcome and just prior to the first full day of classes is Bronco Bash. Bronco Bash is the annual event for new and returning students, faculty, staff and community members that launches another great year at WMU. Over 400 student organizations, university departments, community members, local businesses and area restaurants participate in Bronco Bash.
Another event at WMU that is always popular is the fall football game against our rival CMU (Central Michigan University), which is preceded by a week-long blood drive at both schools to see who can achieve the most blood donations for the American Red Cross.
