
On the main campus in fall of 2007, there were approximately 19,718 undergraduate and 4,715 graduate students enrolled.
The class size at the undergraduate level is 32 students. Some sections of popular classes are larger (approximately 100).
WMU's faculty to student ratio is 1 to 19, which is a ratio similar to that found at many private colleges. There are approximately 986 regular, full-time faculty and 203 part-time instructors on campus. Most faulty carry a teaching load as part of their University contracts, although there are a few faculty who are engaged solely in research. Most undergraduate courses are taught by full or part-time faculty, although there exceptions. Additionally, many labs and seminars are conducted by graduate assistants.
