Hello everyone!
My name is Shaquondre, though, I prefer to be called Shay. I am a third year student at Western Michigan University majoring in Psychology and minoring in Japanese. I work for the Office of Admissions as a Student Ambassador, a position I represent proudly! It’s also a position I miss dearly!
Currently I am 1,189 miles away from Michigan living in Orlando, Florida working for the WALT DISNEY COMPANY! How exciting is that?! I was offered an internship opportunity to work within Walt Disney World Resort, I’ve been here a couple days shy of two weeks and I absolutely LOVE working here. Not to mention I get to skip that Michigan winter weather.
Being a Japanese minor, and too much of a “Mommy’s Girl” to leave the states for Japan, I’ve found that I still get the opportunity to experience and discover different parts of the world, even if it is just Florida. Also, being a part of the program I can practice my Japanese with guest by wearing a language badge showing that I speak the language.
Also, in regards to education, you can take classes through the Disney College Program that may be eligible for credit through your academic department. To determine if you can get credit for any of the courses that Disney offers you must discuss that with your academic advisor. Though, I can say with absolute certainty that not many departments will give you credit for Disney courses, you also do not receive any internship credits through Western Michigan University overall.
If you still want to take classes and be sure to get credit for them you can take online classes through the university. For which classes you can take online that will count towards your degree you would have to speak to an academic advisor.
I’ll check back in soon though! For now, I just got off work and I have some homework to catch up on. Then I’ll be showering my roommates with some Disney Love a.k.a. Pixie Dust! I’ll try to convince them all to come back to Western with me too.
With Bronco Spirit & Pixie Dust,
Shay
