You must have an official grade report transcript of your AP exam scores sent to WMU, college code 1902. After this report is received and evaluated, you will be mailed notification of your credit eligibility. Student copies and other copies of the AP grade report are not considered official and cannot be used for granting credit.
The table on this page lists score requirements, along with the equivalent course(s) awarded for each exam. WMU requires a minimum score of 3 (4 in the case of physics) for credit eligibility.
Use this link to Advanced Placement's information on the Web, or call AP toll-free at 888 225-5427.
If your AP grade report is received here before you start classes, we will send you a letter indicating your credit eligibility and when credit will be granted (after you begin classes). Read this letter carefully! If you are not entering WMU in the semester/year you reported to AP, then you must notify us after you start classes here in order to receive credit.
If your AP report is received after you have started classes at WMU, any AP credit for which you are eligible will be posted on your record.
This notation means that you must first meet with the corresponding department at WMU before credit can be awarded. The department will determine what specific course credit is appropriate and then direct us to process that award. We recommend that you contact the department as soon as you come to campus.
As the equivalency table indicates, some students who receive a score of 4
or 5 on the English Literature and Composition examination may have
a choice of course credit at WMU. Read our letter about credit eligibility carefully
and please complete and return its enclosed form promptly.
