
Since you are a member of the Lee Honors College you will need to attend academic advising with the honors college. Also, look for information in the mail about meeting the faculty and staff from the honors college before your Orientation session begins.
The main thing you need to do is attend Orientation in June. Look for a letter from the Medallion Scholarship Coordinator to arrive in the month of July. There will be a form enclosed in the letter you’ll need to return prior to arriving on campus in the fall, as well as a list of important dates for the upcoming academic year.
Students are eligible if they are high school seniors, graduating in 2008, who have a cumulative GPA of 3.70 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher at the end of the junior year and have an ACT composite of 26 or higher or an SAT score of 1170 or higher (math and verbal). No. Students only need to apply for admission to WMU in order to be considered.
If the score is received in Admissions by December 5, 2008 we will consider that toward Medallion Scholarship Competition eligibility.
During the competition the competitors will take part in essay writing and group problem solving activities. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit a University Showcase where they can interact with WMU faculty and staff. Current Medallion Scholars will also provide a student panel Q & A session.
The top 35 competitors will be invited back to campus the end of February to interview with the Medallion Selection Committee after which 17 will be named 2009 Medallion Scholars.
The scholarship amount will depend upon your performance in the essay writing and group problem solving activities.
