The Academic Skills Center, located in Moore Hall, coordinates a free campus-wide tutoring service that has been developed to help students as they make their way through certain courses of study. The center identifies subjects to be tutored from recommendations made by students and faculty. Students can contact the Academic Skills Center by calling (269) 387-4442.
The Career English Language Center for International Students (CELCIS) prepares non-native English speakers to use English effectively in their university study or careers. The classes emphasize a holistic approach to language learning. Whenever possible, students participate in activities that simulate those situations they will experience in the academic arena.
CELCIS accomplishes this by offering language instruction and cultural orientation in: (a) an intensive full year English language program; (b) English as a second language bridge courses offered through the Department of English; and (c) training of and consultation with international teaching assistants and faculty through the Graduate College.
