How much does the average student spend on textbooks each year?

The estimated cost for required textbooks in the first years is approximately $850.  Costs may vary by major.  For example, engineering, media and performing art students may have slightly higher expenses related to special materials needed for courses in addition to required textbooks.

Each semester, the University Bookstore staff offers to package textbooks according to class schedules as a free service to students.  Wherever possible, good quality used books are substituted for new books as a way by which to help students save money.  Textbooks may be returned to the Bookstore at the end of the semester for buy-back (payments depend on the condition of the textbooks).

The WMU campus bookstore is centrally located in the Bernhard Center on the first floor.  The phone number is (269) 387-3929.
