Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities to get involved in the greater Kalamazoo area.

If you are looking to volunteer as an individual, whether for a long term or one-time opportunity, a great place to start is Volunteer Kalamazoo. To start looking for the right volunteering opportunity, follow this link and click on the “get involved” button on the upper right hand corner.

If you are looking to find a volunteer opportunity for a RSO or any student group, contact Emily Briggs directly and he will assist you with finding a good match.

Interested in service learning?

Check out the WMU Office of Service-Learning. They can assist you with identifying service-learning courses, finding or developing service-learning opportunities, and coaching for service-related leadership. The office also offers support for collaborations among students, faculty, and community partners, as well as providing reflection to help you frame your experiences.

Air Zoo

Volunteer Project: The Air Zoo is looking for volunteers to fill several positions including greeters, docents, and demo volunteers. No experience necessary and training will be provided for each volunteer position.

6th Annual Coastline Children's Film Festival

Volunteer Project: The film festival runs from March 11-20th and it will be hosted in various venues around south west Michigan. We are looking for greeters to help out! Contact one of the coordinators at 269-983-0271 or go the website at for more info.

Volunteers for a local AFC home for Seniors with Alzheimer's

Volunteer Project: We are a local AFC home in Portage, MI looking for day or evening student volunteers going into geriatrics or OT/PT etc to assist us with our seniors in our home. We arelooking for students who have a desire to help seniorswith activities and/or just spending time with them, talking, sharing stories. Maybe even meet us at a local park to assist with ambulation (walking) and helping our residents enjoy the world around them.
