Drive Safe Kalamazoo (DSK) aims to increase the safety of the Kalamazoo community by providing free, nonjudgmental safe-rides home for Western Michigan University students by Western Michigan University students. DSK takes calls every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night during the school year from 11pm-3am. Drive Safe Kalamazoo then dispatches the location and destination of patrons to driver/passenger teams who then take them home. We do not promote the use of alcohol, but we acknowledge its existence in our community. By providing a safe ride for community members, we hope to eliminate any negative consequences alcohol may generate. You can learn more about getting involved with DSK here.
Alternative Spring Break is an awesome way to meet students on the Western Michigan University campus who value volunteering. Students at any grade level are encouraged to participate in this trip of a lifetime, making strong bonds with new friends, and memories to last well after the trip. During the spring break trip students volunteer throughout the country, but also during the school year in and around the Kalamazoo area. Alternative Spring Break is a great way to meet others and make a difference!
Alternative Summer Experience is a brand new organization on campus! It is a great way to end the school year and kick off your summer! Have a blast volunteering with issues of your interest, meet fellow Western students, gain leadership skills, and explore the United States in the gorgeous spring time. We strive to change the way you think of volunteering! Our volunteer excursions take off the week after Spring semester finals. Applications are due February 23rd! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for an application and more information on how you can get involved!
