The Emerging Leaders program incorporates skill building activities, dynamic speakers, and opportunities to interact with current WMU student leaders. Additionally, you will begin building relationships with other emerging leaders, learn how to get involved on campus during your first year, and you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with other new incoming students.

This program is ideal if you are interested in continuing your leadership skill development and/or beginning your leadership journey at WMU.
Participants will be engaged in hands-on activities, will take part in a variety of discussions around leadership, connect to current student leaders and will go through the Leadership Reaction Course at Fort Custer.
The Emerging Leaders @ Fall Welcome program will take place August 27-30, 2013. The schedule will be as follows:
Tuesday August 27 9:00 am – noon Move In
2:00 -5:00 pm Teambuilding/Activities
Wednesday August 28 2:00-8:00 pm Activities/Dinner
Thursday August 29 9:00 am – noon Activities
Friday August 30 8:00 am – 3:00 pm Fort Custer Reaction Course/Lunch/Wrap-Up

Please note: You must be a first-year student participating in Fall Welcome in order to participate in the Emerging Leaders @ Fall Welcome Program.

Any first or second semester first year or transfer student is eligible to participate in the Emerging Leaders @ Winter program. The 2014 Emerging Leaders @ Winter date will be announced during the summer of 2013.
Fall Welcome Emerging Leader participants have an exciting opportunity to participate in the Emerging Leaders Certificate Program. This is ayear-long program that reaches out to students of all interests. The leadership training is applicable to all majors, from engineering to education, finance to fine arts. The networking and resume building opportunities are vital in any chosen profession.
The Emerging Leaders Certificate is a program designed to provide first year students with structure, flexibility and support while exploring their leadership skills.The Certificate program matches each participant with an upperclassmen student who is involved on campus.
